Product overview
Compared to electrical equipment such as transmission lines, generators, motors, and transformers, the probability of bus failure is relatively low. However, bus failures often occur due to flashover of bus insulators or circuit breakers, disconnector bushings, operator misoperation, and small animal hazards to medium and low voltage buses. At present, in order to meet the requirements of transient stability of power systems, special fast bus protection is generally installed on buses with voltage levels above 220KV in China, and bus faults can be selectively and quickly removed. Depending on the importance and complexity of 110KV voltage grade buses, some are equipped with special bus protection, while others are not. However, medium and low voltage buses with voltage levels below 35KV, regardless of the number and complexity of their outgoing lines, are generally not equipped with special bus protection. The internal arc fault of the switch cabinet is a very serious fault in the power distribution system, and its occurrence can cause catastrophic consequences. The various fault arc effects generated by the large energy released by the internal arc combustion can seriously burn expensive switchgear, and the short circuit current impact can damage the main transformer, resulting in long-term power outages. As far as the currently applied medium and low voltage bus short circuit protection scheme is concerned, it cannot meet the requirements of arc light short circuit inside the switchgear. It is necessary to introduce a new dedicated bus protection scheme to solve the problems of improving power supply reliability and reducing power outage time in modern power systems and factories and mining enterprises.
DMS-ARC is a modular system that includes a main control unit (DMS-ARC-MCU), a current unit (DMS-ARC-EU), a power supply module (DMS-ARC-PS), an arc light unit (DMS-ARC-EXT), and an arc light sensor (DMS-ARC-SOR).
Due to its modular configuration, the system is suitable for various applications of arc protection, ranging from a simple system with only one master control unit to a complex solution containing multiple units that can be used for selective arc protection.
The system adopts optical fiber star connection mode, and optical cables are used to connect the main control unit and current unit, the main control unit and arc light unit, the main control unit and arc light expansion unit, and the arc light unit and arc light expansion unit.
DMS-ARC-MCU main control unit:
The main control unit is the core component of the entire arc protection system, used to manage and control the entire arc protection system. It detects arc light signals and fault current signals, and processes and judges the two signals received. When the trip conditions are met, it sends a trip command to remove the fault.
The main control unit is generally installed on the secondary control room door panel of the lighting cabinet next to the bus system power incoming cabinet or power incoming cabinet. The main control unit has 4 signal input interfaces for arc and current units, and a total of 24 arc or current units can be connected. When the arc signal exceeds 16, the arc unit is recommended. In addition, the main control unit can accurately determine the location of the fault point based on the signals transmitted by the arc light unit or arc light sensor.
The main control unit has 16 arc light detection interfaces (input by arc light sensors). If the monitoring points required by the bus system exceed this value, an arc light unit is required. Each arc unit includes 10 arc detection interfaces, all of which are fiber optic interfaces for connecting arc sensors. The light sensitivity of the arc light sensor can be adjusted and set through the point gauge on the arc light unit panel, which can be adjusted from 10 to 50 Klux.
The signal detected by the arc light unit is transmitted to the main control unit through optical fibers and data lines. The main control unit determines whether to issue a trip command based on the set logic. The arc light unit is usually installed in a selected switch cabinet, and the principle of selection is to ensure that the amount of optical fiber used for the unit is small.
The current unit is used to detect overcurrent signals. A/B/C three-phase currents can be detected, and it can be matched with a 5A current transformer. The positive setting of the current can be adjusted by a potentiometer on the panel, with a setting range of 50% to 500% In. The detected signal from the current power supply is transmitted to the main control unit through optical fiber and data lines. The main control unit determines whether to issue a trip command based on the set logic.
The current unit is usually installed in the power incoming cabinet, and each power incoming line should be equipped with a current unit.
DMS-ARC-PS arc light sensor is a passive light sensor dedicated to bus protection, and is a light sensing element that detects arc light. It can detect the intensity of the arc light, and then transmit the optical signal to the main control unit or arc light unit. Based on the intensity of the arc light, it can determine whether it is necessary to cut off the system power supply.
